GameSpy's 2011 Videogame Awards: Day Two!

By GameSpy Staff | PC Special Features | Dec 26, 2011 5:51 AM | Comment
It's that time of year again: the presents are unwrapped, the Steam Holiday Sale is in full swing, and we're giving a tip our sweet green fedoras to the PC games that impressed us the most in 2011. This has been one of the most amazing years on record, and the list of awesome games the GameSpy crew had to whittle down to just a few winners was imposing indeed. Some of these calls were no-brainers, others made us want to bash each other's brains out and eat them. After all, what kind of game is Minecraft, anyway? But call them we did, and here's how it all went down. Read on to see which of games that came out this year we think you absolutely can't afford to miss. Read More »

Jonathan Blow Talks Architecture for The Witness

By Mike Nelson | PC News | Dec 23, 2011 2:25 PM | Comment
Puzzles, mysterious uninhabited island, unique architecture, audio logs... sound familiar? I'm not the first to draw a comparison between The Witness and the classic PC game MYST, but as Jonathan Blow's latest game begins to take shape it's hard to deny how similar they are in concept -- that's a good thing. Read More »

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta Impressions

By Mike Sharkey | PC Previews | Dec 22, 2011 12:26 PM | Comment
Headshots, money, and blink-and-it's-over rounds. Not much has changed since the last time I regularly played Counter-Strike back in 2004. Sure, Valve and Hidden Path have given the shooter a facelift, but at this early stage in the closed beta, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive plays identically to the now 12-year-old Half-Life mod and its spruced-up Source engine remake. And I can't decide whether or not that's a good thing. Read More »

Hamilton's Great Adventure Review

By Ray Barnholt | PC Reviews | Dec 22, 2011 11:20 AM | Comment
Great little puzzle games of all kinds are easy to come by these days, but not all of them balance good fun with pretty graphics like Hamilton's Great Adventure does. It's a no-frills action-puzzle game with a cute setting that belies some truly devious and addictive level design. Regardless of a couple of little flaws with controls and difficulty, it's a well put-together maze adventure for all. Read More »

The Old Republic Diaries: The Wrath of Blarth #1

By Dan Stapleton | PC News | Dec 21, 2011 5:39 PM | Comment
In the TOR Diaries, we're chronicling our adventures leading up to our review. Follow along for our early impressions of the new mega-MMO.

Ever since I first saw Return of the Jedi, The Emperor has personified pure evil in my head. If I was going to put aside my usual RPG do-gooder instincts and play Star Wars: The Old Republic on the Empire side, I was gonna need to play a character like him to really get into the role—and the Inquisitor is modeled after the man himself. Read More »
